Garbo and Astaire

Many a Hollywood star has never seen nor talked with Greta Garbo. But Fred Astaire’s mother became friendly with the star through a meeting at a lecture series. When she told the dancing star, he asked, “Did you tell her that I’m your son?” Mrs. Astaire replied, “Yes, and she said, ‘Oh, he’s that boy who dances.’”

Why Are You So Happy?

In America you are all so happy. Why are you so happy all of the time? I am not always happy. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. When I am angry I am very bad. I shut my door and do not speak.

Garbo Sighting: Stolkholm

Great Garbo was known for being a recluse throughout most of her life – especially after she left her Hollywood career behind in the early 1940′s. Newspapers began documenting “Garbo Sightings” which were rare moments the actress was candidly photographed outside the movie studios.
